A snowstorm hit Essex County in the early morning hours of November 11th. A record 15 to 20 centimetres of snow fell between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m., causing the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) to respond to more than 20 collisions due to the inclement weather.
A jackknifed tractor-trailer shut down all eastbound lanes on Highway 401 at the Highway 3 interchange on Monday evening for approximately four hours while authorities investigated the accident scene until 11:30 p.m.
Luckily, no serious injuries were sustained. The OPP continues to respond to a number of crashes in the area and is urging drivers to please drive cautiously and be patient during slower-moving traffic and road maintenance at this time.
