There was a serious crash around 9:00 a.m. Wednesday in Chatham-Kent. The collision involved a car and bicycle, and the bicyclist was transported to hospital for treatment of life-threatening injuries.
There were several 911 calls made to Chatham-Kent police at about 9:25 a.m. Wednesday morning to report a crash at Beth Crescent and McFarlane Ave.
According to police, the bicyclist was heading west on McFarlane. The driver was going south on Melrose Drive before turning and striking the cyclist.
The rider got pinned under the front of the vehicle and several people at the scene tried to pull the cyclist out. Unfortunately, the car moved forward while this was happening. This caused the cyclist further injury.
The cyclist is receiving treatment at London Health Sciences Centre, but the person driving the car was uninjured.
The police have not released the names of the driver or victim and the investigation of the crash will continue.
