One motorist was transported to the local area hospital Thursday morning with critical injuries after a transport truck and minivan collided with one another.
According to the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) in Essex County, the crash occurred around 9:30 a.m. on Highway 3 at County Road 27. Several other emergency responders including the Essex-Windsor EMS and Kingsville firefighters also arrived at the accident scene to offer assistance.
The minivan sustained significant damage to the driver’s side while the transport truck had front-end damage. The driver of the minivan suffered life-threatening injuries requiring immediate medical care while the driver of the transport truck remained uninjured.
Neither driver had passengers at the time of the crash.
Highway 3 remained closed in both directions between County Road 27 and Marsh Road for some time while the scene was investigated. The exact cause of the collision still remains unknown.
