We are very excited to announce that Greg Monforton & Partners is sponsoring a free concussion workshop on Nov. 9, 2015 at the Essex Centre Sports Plex Shaheen Community Room. Doors open at 6 p.m.
The Use Your Head! concussion workshop is being hosted by the Brain Injury Association of Windsor & Essex County (BIAWE), which Greg Monforton & Partners has proudly supported for several years.
The workshop for parents, educators, trainers, coaches and referees will feature four speakers.
First, in A Parents Experience with Concussion, Kevin Hamlin, principal and head coach of the Windsor Lancers Mens Hockey Program, will speak on his own experiences with head trauma as a parent and coach. Dr. Mark Dubreuil and Mr. Peter Morasutti will then speak to the crowd on identifying a concussion, guidelines for returning to the field and the TSHMA policy.
Sharon Seslija will go over any updates on school concussion policies while Dr. Joe Casey and Dave Stoute will go over what baseline testing is and when it should be done.
The free workshop begins promptly at 6:30 p.m. To reserve a seat, call 519.981.1329 or email [email protected].
Greg Monforton & Partners has worked with the BIAWE in the past. In September, GM&P was a proud sponsor of the associations annual golf tournament.
It is estimated that each year, 150,000 Canadians will suffer an acquired brain injury. About 800 of these victims will be children. Each year, hundreds of children suffer from a concussion or brain injury while playing sports. Learning more about head trauma, how to spot it and how to treat it can help parents, educators and trainers prevent and/or minimize these types of injuries.
We hope that everyone will take the opportunity to attend this educational, and free, workshop.
