Greg Monforton & Partners is honoured to sponsor the third annual King of Guac – You Gotta Eat Here! event benefiting the Brain Injury Association of Windsor & Essex County (BIAWE).
This fun and unique event will raise funds to support BIAWE’s Helmets on Kids program, which provides helmets for children who are not able to purchase one of their own. The program has provided more than 4,000 helmets to underprivileged youth to date. Funds raised from last year’s King of Guac event allowed the organization to donate 400 helmets to local children.
In accordance with the BIAWE’s mission of enhancing the lives of people facing a brain injury through awareness, education and support, the organization is committed to educating children about the importance of injury prevention.
According to the BIAWE’s website, 44 people in Ontario sustain a brain injury every day, adding to the estimated total of 50,000 Canadians suffering from an acquired brain injury. Studies have shown that helmets help reduce brain injuries by 88 per cent.
The event will be held on May 1st at 5 p.m. at The Bull & Barrel. Last year’s King of Guac, Ted Dimoglou from Tiki Sushi, will defend his title against three other professional chefs from Mamo Burger, Twisted Apron and Motor Burger. Ten amateurs will also compete for the title of Amateur King of Guac.
Tickets are $35 dollars and include delicious tastings of chips and guacamole along with a festive fajita bar. Tickets can be purchased by calling Mary Ann from the BIAWE at 519-981-1329 or emailing [email protected]. Amateur chefs interested in competing should also call Mary Ann.
We look forward to a fun night supporting this worthy cause!
