One person was killed and another suffered life-threatening injuries in a two-vehicle crash in Lakeshore on Monday, July 18.
According to Ontario Provincial Police, a Chevrolet Minivan and a Mercedes SUV collided at an intersection at South Middle Road and Naylor Sideroad just before 2:30 p.m.
The driver of the minivan died at the scene of the accident, and the driver of the Mercedes was transported to an area hospital in critical condition.
Roads leading to the intersection, including South Middle Road between Lakeshore Road 204 and 2011 and Naylor Sideroad between County Road 46 and County Road 8, were closed for several hours as police investigated the accident. The cause of the collision remains unknown.
Two weeks earlier on July 3, another Lakeshore accident killed two people riding a motorcycle. According to police, a minivan ran through a stop sign at the intersection of Essex County Road 46 and Rochester Townline Road and collided with a motorcycle carrying two people. Both were transported to the hospital with serious injuries and were later pronounced dead.
