A pedestrian who was critically injured in a crash last Wednesday succumbed to her injures on Friday. The 66-year-old victim got hit by a passing car after stepping out of her vehicle, causing the injuries that became fatal.
The crash happened on Main Street in Ridgetown before 2 p.m. on October 19. The victim was taken to Chatham-Kent Health Alliance before being airlifted to Windsor.
The driver of the car that hit the pedestrian was arrested and charged. He was held in custody and released from court after a bail hearing. A court date has been set for December 2, 2022.
There is a candlelight vigil scheduled for 7 p.m. tonight on Main Street in Ridgetown. Chatham-Kent Police Service issued a statement expressing condolences to the family and friends of the victim.
