A Chatham man has been charged after his dog attacked a young woman back in 2018.
According to The Chatham Daily News, the 33-year-old dog owner was convicted in court in November. The woman, then age 22, suffered significant injuries after being bitten on the arm by the animal.
Animal Control in Chatham-Kent in a statement released to the media says the owner permitted the dog to attack. This was also not the first incident for the dog.
Since the attack, the victim has needed ongoing medical care for her injuries, which have resulted in lifelong complications.
The dog owner was found guilty of multiple offenses under the Dog Owners’ Liability Act. He has also been fined $2,500 and ordered to pay $24,000 in costs.
