A three-vehicle crash in Lambton County over Thanksgiving weekend has claimed the life of a 19-year-old driver from St. Clair Township. Three other individuals involved in the crash were taken to hospital, one with life-threatening injuries.
Multi-Vehicle Crash on Courtright Line and Mandaumin Road
The multi-vehicle collision occurred Sunday afternoon at 2:15 p.m. at Courtright Line and Mandaumin Road, an intersection known to be dangerous. The collision involved three vehicles and four individuals; one of the vehicles was carrying a passenger.
The 19-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene, while the driver of one of the other vehicles was transported to hospital with life-threatening injuries.
Neighbours Are Calling for Action
According to neighbours in the area, there have been far too many crashes at the corner of this intersection.
Wendy Lavigne, who has been a resident at that corner for 26 years, told CTV News London, “I’ve seen more [crashes] than I’d like to have seen. And more than one death.”
Neighbours are asking for greater safety measures to be installed at the intersection; a roundabout, four-way stop or even rumble strips. While costly, residents believe these measures could help to prevent further crashes in the area.
Lambton OPP Asking Witnesses to Come Forward
The Lambton OPP are asking for any witnesses with useful information about the crash to contact them. You can leave tips anonymously online at Crime Stoppers or call via phone at 1-888-3101122.
