Dangerous Accident
Residents of Parent Avenue are calling for safety changes by the city because of the number of accidents that frequently occur at the intersection of Parent Avenue and Shepherd Street.
Just this week, an e-bike was struck by a vehicle at the intersection. Emergency vehicles were called to the scene just after 6 p.m. on July 16, 2015, after a Ford Focus traveling southbound went to make a left turn onto Shepherd and struck an e-bicyclist heading north on Parent Avenue.
Witnesses cited in a Windsor Star article, said the bicyclist bounced off of the windshield and hood of the vehicle and landed on the ground where he bounced again.
According to passersby, the man appeared to be in his sixties. He remained conscious after the accident and was wearing a helmet. The car suffered front-end damage and a cracked windshield, while the e-bike was destroyed.
Several witnesses and residents of the area have petitioned the city to install a traffic light at the intersection, but have made no headway with the city. Residents say they are fed up with the high number of accidents that occur in the area.
The personal injury lawyers at Greg Monforton & Partners understand the devastating injuries bicyclists face following accidents and we strongly believe negligent drivers should be held accountable for their actions.
