There was a two-vehicle collision at the Commissioners Road East and Wellington Road intersection Tuesday morning. The crash involved a motorcycle, and the rider was critically injured.
The motorcyclist was transported to hospital for treatment while the driver stayed at the scene.
Police closed the intersection to conduct their investigation. The London Health Sciences Centre used social media to request that drivers avoid using nearby Victoria Hospital as a throughway. That way the road would be clear for emergency services. London Health Sciences Centre also told patients who had appointments at the hospital to give themselves more time to reach the facility.
The police opened the intersection back up at about 2:15 p.m. on Tuesday.
The police also released a statement noting that the investigation into the crash is just starting, and they will release more information when appropriate.
The authorities have asked people who have information about the crash to contact London police at 519-661-5670 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
