There were two collisions on Tuesday in Tilbury, one was at Canal Street and Ella Street and the other was on Queen’s Line between Bonneau Line and Davidson Road.
The first crash happened around 11 a.m. and involved an SUV and a van. The collision caused the van to hit a pole, while the SUV continued east to Tilbury Street and then veered off the road.
The driver of the SUV was an 86-year-old woman from Romney Township. She was transported to the hospital by air ambulance, but no one else suffered injuries in the collision.
The second collision happened shortly after police reopened the part of Mill Street that was closed to investigate the first crash. Police went back to the scene to investigate and learned what happened. The first vehicle was turning onto Davidson Road when it got hit by another vehicle. The second vehicle was attempting to go around a line of cars that was waiting for someone to turn.
While the vehicles involved in the collision had to be towed away, no one was injured in the crash. However, the driver who was trying to pass the line of cars was charged with careless driving.
