Two people were taken to the hospital on the morning of Tuesday, July 2nd, with non-life threatening injuries after an accident at the intersection of County Roads 14 and 31 in Leamington.
The Leamington Fire Department, Essex-Windsor EMS and the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to the scene around 10:30 a.m.
A burgundy SUV and a white transport truck were involved in the crash. The tractor trailer had been traveling northbound on County Road 31 while the SUV was traveling in the opposite direction going westbound on County Road 14. The impact caused both vehicles to sustain serious property damage with the SUV sustaining a smashed front end. The truck, which was transporting lumber, ended up on its drivers side with its load spilled across the roadway.
The scene on County Road 31 between Concession 8 and 10 and County Road between Graham Side Road and Highway 77 remained closed for commuters for about eight hours. The intersection re-opened shortly after 6:20 p.m. The cause of the accident is still under investigation at this time.
