A Belle River woman was rushed to the local hospital in serious condition after an incident on the afternoon of Saturday, July 6th.
The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were called to the 300 block of Harvest Lane for a report of an elderly woman being hit by an SUV at around 12 p.m. A resident of the area was washing her car when she overhead her neighbor yelling for her husband. The resident turned around and saw the woman on the outside of the passenger side holding onto the door as the SUV rolled down the driveway. The vehicle did not stop and pinned the woman underneath it.
The elderly woman was hospitalized with serious, but non-life threatening injuries to her lower body. According to the OPP, the woman’s husband was also transported to the hospital for treatment of an unknown medical issue.
The OPP’s Accident Reconstruction Unit continue to investigate the incident and are asking anyone with additional information to please contact them at 1-888-310-1122 or send an anonymous tip through Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS).
