Family Mourns Loss of Mother Who Never Got to See Her New Daughter

Amber Lynn Miller (December 3, 1989 – January 7, 2025), a young mother in our local community, passed away at Erie Shores HealthCare in Leamington following an emergency caesarean section. The 35-year-old mother leaves behind a five-year old daughter, Harper. Sadly, Amber never had the opportunity to meet her newborn daughter, Amya, who was born at 36-and-a-half weeks, weighing five pounds, 10 ounces.

A Life of Compassion and Family Dedication

Amber was known for her dedication to helping others, including participating in foster cat rescue efforts and assisting people in need. She met her partner, Joe Ouellette, in April 2015. Since they were both nature lovers, they planned their first date together at Point Pelee National Park. The couple was excited to start a family and welcomed their first daughter, Harper, on July 2, 2019. Amber cherished family relationships, having grown up with two brothers of her own.

Final Day and Memorial Information

On the morning of January 7, Amber experienced life-threatening medical complications at home. Paramedics were called to their home and transported Amber to hospital by ambulance. Following the emergency delivery of her daughter, Amya, she was placed on life support. Sadly, Amber Lynn Miller passed away that afternoon.

According to an article in the Windsor Star, Amber’s husband, Joe, has since learned that the caesarian scar from the delivery of their first daughter tore sometime during Amber’s pregnancy, but that tear went undetected and undiagnosed.

The family held a memorial service for Amber at Reid Funeral Home in Essex on January 22. To assist the family with childcare and baby necessities during this difficult time, Amber’s close friend, Cynthia Polney has established a GoFundMe page.
