police tapeThere was a fatal car crash in Amherstburg on Tuesday morning. Windsor Police were dispatched to the intersection of Country Road 20 and County Road 9 around 7:15 a.m. after reports of two separate collisions.

The initial collision happened when an eastbound pickup truck, which was attempting to turn left onto County Road 9, collided with a westbound SUV on Country Road 20. The collision resulted in severe injuries to the SUV driver, who was taken to hospital. Despite the medical team’s efforts, the driver passed away.

Moments after the first crash, another vehicle, also an eastbound truck, crashed into the rear of the stationary pickup that was involved in the initial accident. Fortunately, no further injuries were reported from the second collision.

The incident prompted an extensive investigation, leading to the closure of the intersection for several hours. The area was reopened to the public around 12:15 p.m., easing the traffic flow that had been significantly disrupted throughout the morning.

Windsor Police are actively seeking information from witnesses or anyone with knowledge about the accidents. They encourage individuals to come forward and contact the Windsor Police Service at 519-945-9645, ext. 223.
