Car Accident Internal Injuries
With more than 570 car collisions being reported on average each day in Ontario many individuals will be transported to a local area hospital for their injuries. It is important that anyone who believes they have been injured receive medical attention as some injury symptoms may take days to develop.
Some common types of internal injuries include:
Concussion
A type of injury typically associated with loss of consciousness, symptoms include headache, confusion, dizziness, and slurred speech. An individual who suffers a concussion does not always experience loss of consciousness and some symptoms can develop over 48 hours.
Organ Contusions
Internal organ bruising can be difficult to diagnose so victims should watch for symptoms like abdominal pain, soreness, back pain, and reduced blood pressure. There are a number of internal organs that can be damaged during a car crash including the liver, spleen, and kidneys.

These injuries include soft-tissue rib injuries and bruised ribs. It is estimated that about 10 percent of persons who suffer from blunt force trauma to the chest will suffer from a fractured rib.
